Plantersville Community Open House

PREC held an open house on July 30, 2024, at Plantersville Elementary. Approximately 50 people attended, including citizens and community members from Plantersville and the surrounding area, and representatives from various organizations, such as the Costal Conservation League, US Army Corps of Engineers, Costal Carolina Community College, Georgetown County Planning, and Santee Cooper. Attendees had an opportunity to view locational maps and concept plans, hear about the design of the project, learn about solar and battery technology, and ask questions about the project. Attendees asked questions about solar technology in general, the location of the project, the need for the project and the benefit to Santee Cooper and Central, the potential impact of the project on wildlife, wetlands and streams, the construction timeframe for the project, the potential impact to electric bills, and the potential impact to taxes.
